Chesley, an expert tutor, graduated Montclair State University with a B.A. in English. She is a certified teacher of English and a professional tutor with experience in facilitating all of the vital reading comprehension and writing skills necessary to succeed at middle/high school, on standardized tests and beyond. She has worked at top rated learning centers as well as in student homes helping to build crucial verbal skills. She offers help with the verbal portions of entrance exams such as SSAT/ISEE, SAT, and ACT. Lessons include vocabulary building, exam strategies, timed practice, and homework. Chesley's services as an English tutor also include (but are not limited to) college application essay help, homework help, language arts enrichment, reading comprehension, proofreading, and grammar. Chesley has also worked as a freelance writer and enjoys singing and spending time with her daughter.

Chris has a Ph.D. in English and has taught and tutored writing and literature on the high school and college levels for over 25 years. He is passionate about all students' achieving their utmost potential and loves being present for those "a-ha moments" when learners move from confusion to understanding.

Christina, an expert tutor, has a B.A. in history and two NJ teaching certifications in Elementary K-5 and Social Studies. She has worked as a substitute teacher in the Passaic School District and has also worked as a tutor for a number of year. Christina has experience working at a Middle School in a 7th grade classroom as well. Christina is currently working as a teacher in a special education school in Belleville, NJ. She teaches US history and world history at the high school level. Christina loves to write and has creative strategies that she implements when assisting struggling writers.

Christina, a master tutor, has been teaching early elementary grades for more than 17 years. She has her M.A. in ESL and Education and B.A. in Psychology. She is creative, patient, and has a passion for teaching. She is very passionate about teaching early reading and math skills. Christina understands the importance of differentiating lessons based on student needs and learning styles. She provides individualized support and breaks down concepts that are easier to understand for a child who is struggling during a lesson. She also knows when to challenge students to become successful.. Chrisitna is very creative and likes to create hands-on lessons that are fun and engaging.

Ciera, an expert tutor, graduated from Elon University in North Carolina in May 2015. At Elon, she majored in Early Childhood Education and had a minor in Spanish. She is a certified K-5 teacher and currently teaches third grade at North Star Academy Charter School of Newark. She was in a classroom setting observing, learning, and teaching every semester. In addition, she volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club and tutored local elementary students. In her spare time, Ciera enjoys writing, spending time with her family and friends, and volunteering!

Claudia, a master tutor, is currently a graduate student at Montclair State University studying bilingual education. She has been a teacher for 10 years. Teaching in Bergen, Passaic and Essex counties. Claudia has been teaching in Newark  Public Schools for the past 5 years. She has worked with students within different capacities, as a resource teacher working with students with specific learning disabilities, behavioral and multiple disabilities, grades pre-k through 5th grade. She has also taught dual language in English and Spanish. In addition, she has tutored elementary age children focusing on language arts, math, and ESL. Claudia believes that every child has the potential to overcome challenges and provides strategies to help students while making learning fun. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, doing community service, attending church, reading a good book, watching a play/ movie, traveling, eating different foods and being of service to others.

Courtney, an expert tutor, is a 3rd grade school teacher. She has a B.S. in human services from the University of Delaware and is currently working toward earning a M.A. in literacy instruction from Caldwell University. Courtney is an NJ k-6 certified teacher and enjoys teaching all subjects. Courtney ensures that each tutoring session meets the individual's needs. She enjoys getting to know the students, and incorporates their interests and strengths into each lesson. Courtney strongly believes that learning should be fun and helps build the students' confidence by encouraging them to do their best and always ask questions. Courtney loves to read, go to the beach, and go hiking.

Craig, a master tutor, has a B.A. in English from UCLA and a M.Ed. in film production from USC, where he received a prestigious merit scholarship award for outstanding editing. Craig is a writer, filmmaker, and educator with 5 years of experience teaching, writing, and film studies at the undergraduate level. Craig has worked in the motion picture industry as a production manager, screenwriter, and producer, working closely with writers and directors to help them realize their ideas on screen. He now enjoys using these listening and partnering skills with students of all ages to help them express themselves with clear and compelling language. Craig continues to write and to consult with other screenwriters. In his spare time, Craig is an avid photographer and loves to hike, read, and discuss ideas with his own school-aged children.

Cynthia, a master tutor, is a professional writer with 20 years experience in publishing educational textbooks. She has been tutoring and substitute teaching for over 10 years. She teaches SAT/ACT College Test Prep - specializing in English Grammar, Reading and Writing. Cynthia is an avid historian, and her love of historical fiction led her to study to tutor the AP US History "APUSH" exam. She travels frequently and loves helping English Language Learners conquer ESL. In her free time, Cynthia loves to read, play mah jong, and cook. But, if she could stay in school her whole life she would!

Dalila, a master tutor, graduated from The University of Florida, receiving B.Ch.E. She then earned an M.A. in education from Montclair State University. She holds certifications in physical science, bilingual/bicultural education. Daila is an educator with 17 years of experience as a public school teacher in the New Jersey area. She enjoys teaching chemistry, physics, environmental science and Earth science. Her main goal is to help her students succeed. She achieves this by listening to her students closely. With so many years of experience, she is able to sense if the student is learning at the proper rate and makes adjustments as needed. When Dalila is not teaching, she loves to cook for her family and children, appreciate a great book, and watch a movie or show. She can be found at the gym doing spinning, yoga, pilates and zumba!

Dan, a master tutor, is currently in his thirteenth year as an educator, having taught English Language Arts in grades 6-8. During this time he has had the pleasure of working with a vast array of students and ability levels. For the past six years, Dan has worked with struggling readers and students who have been classified with either IEP or 504 plans, helping them to succeed in the classroom in ways many of them thought they never could. Dan also has extensive experience working as a private tutor providing everything from assistance with school work to enrichment activities for students looking for an extra challenge. As well as English Language Arts, Dan has an extensive background in Social Studies, which he also enjoys tutoring.

Dana, a master tutor, earned her B.A. in Education in 1995, and since then has taught children in both a classroom and after-school environment, in addition to tutoring children in reading.

Dana’s expertise has been in working with students from Pre-K to 5th grade. She loves working with children to improve their reading, Math, and Language Arts skills.

Dana is fun loving and, as a result, has a great balance between work and using strategic and fun educational ways to achieve her academic goals with her students.

Danielle, a master tutor, graduated from Rider University in 2014 where she double majored in elementary education and psychology, and minored in special education. Danielle is a passionate and kind elementary/special education teacher. She holds two certifications: elementary education k-6 and teacher of students with disabilities k-12. Danielle is currently a special education teacher in an in-class support setting. She uses a multi-sensory approach to instruction and believes that the learning process should be fun and enjoyable! Her tutoring focuses of personalized instruction driven by students' interests and abilities.

Daria, an expert tutor, graduated from William Paterson University with a B.A. in communications and education. She fell in love with teaching after she worked her first job out of college as a teacher's assistant. Ever since, been working in the field of education; working with elementary aged children, especially students with disabilities as a special education teacher in Mahwah and Franklin Lakes.

Currently, she is in her second year as a special education teacher in Glen Ridge. She teaches resource language arts and mathematics to kindergarten through second grade students using a multi sensory approach. Her priority is to create a safe learning environment, where young learners try their best, build confidence, and take chances.

Currently, she is working towards earning her graduate degree through Augustana University with a concentration in reading. She is eager to learn more and implement newly taught strategies in school and during tutoring sessions!

Darlene, a master tutor, is very passionate about teaching. Her undergraduate work was done at Upsala College. She received a B.A. in psychology, human resource management with a minor in business. Darlene joined East Orange school district in 2001 that is where she completed her M.A. in Teaching at Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan in 2006. During Darlene’s 15 years of teaching at Ecole Toussaint Louverture, she achieved teacher of the year twice, EOEA Teacher Pride Award and New Jersey Education Association(NJEA) Award for Excellence for her Social Etiquette program that is administrated throughout East Orange School District. Darlene has taught all subjects to students in grades 1-3. She loves to teach reading and math. She has taught those subjects to student in grade levels 1-5 in after-school programs for 4 years. Darlene has an elementary teaching certificate grades 1-8. Her teaching style is flexible according to the child's learning style. Most importantly, Darlene’s motto is learning is fun.

Dave, a master tutor, graduated from Rutgers with a B.A. in history and religion. He tutors in k-12 social studies and history, including all of the pertinent advanced placement tests (US/world/European history, macroeconomics, human geography, etc). He also tutors the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT, and the reading and English sections of the ACT. Dave can also teach advanced placement music theory and instruct in basic guitar and bass guitar. He is available in Bergen County on weeknights, Essex County on weekends, and online.

Dawn, an expert tutor, is a full-time Kindergarten teacher at St. Rose of Lima Academy. Dawn is a graduate of Montclair State University, Drew University and St. Thomas Aquinas College. Collaboration, being a team player, helping those in need and going the extra mile is what is important in every aspect of living. Dawn is a member of two book clubs and enjoys reading and discussions. In the summers, Dawn loves to spend time in the Adirondacks hiking, boating, kayaking and swimming and enjoying time with family and friends.

Dean, a master tutor, hopes each student will discover academic enjoyment. He started tutoring in high school, continued as a college student attending the University of Pennsylvania, and has been one ever since he graduated and returned to the New Jersey area. He previously taught SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject Test preparation courses and worked for Montclair State University as an Upward Bound Summer Instructor introducing incoming students to college-level English. Dean focuses on one-on-one tutoring but is just as comfortable teaching in a small group and classroom setting. When not tutoring students, Dean works full-time as an IT professional for a global exposition company. In his free time, Dean serves as an adult literacy volunteer and teaches digital literacy courses for individuals with limited exposure to technology.

Dinah, a master tutor, has lived in California, Colorado, Nebraska, New York and now resides in New Jersey. She went to school in California and attended the University of California, San Diego, to earn her BA degree in Spanish/English Literature. At the University of California, Davis, she also earned her Life Elementary Education Teaching Certificate for K-9. At the University of Northern Colorado, she received her Masters of Arts Degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. Dinah has worked in elementary education, bilingual education and English as a Second Language, working with children and adults throughout her career. With a variety of experience, she brings to her teaching a diversity of skills and creativity. Dinah is a professional who has much energy for her students to reach their goals.

Dino, a master tutor, obtained his bachelor’s degree at Jersey City State College and his master’s degree in Cinema Studies at The College of Staten Island (City University of New York). Dino is an Achievement Specialist at a K-8 school in Hudson County. He specializes in working with students in both Language Arts and Math in a small group setting within the classroom. Dino works with students that are struggling and helps them achieve success during any given lesson. Dino has also taught essay writing, creative writing, screenwriting and other basic film courses at local colleges and universities. Dino is an award-winning screenwriter and has been writing screenplays for some time. His screenplays (both feature-length and shorts) have won various accolades in national and international screenplay contests over the past decade. Dino also self-published his own original comic books, and has worked with talented artists from the area.

Ebony, a master tutor, is a highly qualified English teacher of grades 6-12. She holds a M.Ed. along with a certification to teach students with disabilities. Ebony is currently working as a teacher in Roselle. She has tutoring experience and also a background in assisting students pursing higher education (college applications, personal statements, college essay, etc.). She has a passion for teaching and helping students reach their highest potential.

Emily, a master tutor, graduated from Montclair State University in 2007 with a B.F.A. in dance. She taught after school dance programs in publics schools upon graduation, this is where she fell in love with education. Emily returned to Montclair for her elementary Teaching Certificate. She is certified in grades K - 5. Emily has been a full day kindergarten teacher for 3 years in public school. She has a passion for teaching the foundations of reading, comprehension, and writing! Emily creates a fun and positive learning environment for her students so they can gain the confidence needed to be successful. Emily continues to teach dance, spend time with her family, and read in her time away from school!

Emily, an expert tutor, is a recent graduate from The University of North Carolina Wilmington, with a degree in Elementary Education and concentration in Mathematics and Technology. Throughout her years at UNCW, she volunteered in a variety of classrooms from grades K-8. These experiences helped Emily realize her passion for helping students realize their full potential inside the classroom and out. Emily is currently working in sixth-grade classrooms of all subjects as an instructional aide. In her spare time, Emily loves spending time with her dog, going to the beach and snowboarding.

Erica, an expert tutor, graduated from Seton Hall with a M.Ed. and is currently working with students who are dealing with emotional or behavioral difficulties in grades K-12. She is also an experienced 3rd-grade teacher who has worked with students in grades K-12 in language arts, reading, writing, math, science, and history. She believes that every child can learn, no matter what circumstances each faces. Erica develops a relationship with each student that helps inspire them to want to learn on a daily basis and makes learning fun. Erica has worked with special education students, gifted students, and all students in between. Her strengths include language arts, reading, writing, American history, Music, Art, and Science (Math and Science through 8th grade).

Erin, an expert tutor, graduated from Felician College as the valedictorian with degrees in Education and English. She has 15 years of middle school English classroom teaching experience as well as 7 years of tutoring all grade levels and a variety of subjects. Erin also has experience as a homeschool teacher, as she has homeschooled her high school-aged children using the Time4Learning curriculum. Erin is also a published writer with stories in three editions of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
