Dean, a master tutor, hopes each student will discover academic enjoyment. He started tutoring in high school, continued as a college student attending the University of Pennsylvania, and has been one ever since he graduated and returned to the New Jersey area. He previously taught SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject Test preparation courses and worked for Montclair State University as an Upward Bound Summer Instructor introducing incoming students to college-level English. Dean focuses on one-on-one tutoring but is just as comfortable teaching in a small group and classroom setting. When not tutoring students, Dean works full-time as an IT professional for a global exposition company. In his free time, Dean serves as an adult literacy volunteer and teaches digital literacy courses for individuals with limited exposure to technology.

Ellen, a master tutor, is a creative, passionate, and encouraging elementary and middle school math teacher. She holds a B.S. Degree from Boston University’s School of Education and has a NJ Certificate as a K-8 teacher. She has over 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher and as a Math Coordinator both in public and private schools. Ellen has been extensively trained in the Singapore Math instructional approach. She has successfully instituted the Singapore Math program in 2 different schools which included training the teachers in the Singapore methods. To eliminate math anxiety, Ellen often presents ideas, techniques and various strategies, geared to the individual student, that can contribute to meaningful learning that goes beyond memorizing rules, facts, and math procedures. She instills a “can do” attitude in her students which allows them to experience success along with the joy of learning. She is currently teaching and coordinating math in a private school in Bergen County. In her spare time, Ellen loves to read, draw, do arts and crafts, and spend time with her family and friends.

Erin, a master tutor, attended Cornell University and majored in Mathematics. Immediately after graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, to work towards her Masters in the Art of Teaching at American University with a focus on Secondary Math Education. Since then she has been teaching middle and high school math. Erin recently moved to New Jersey, where she is now teaching high school Mathematics. She loves mathematics and loves to share that passion with her students!

Erin, an expert tutor, graduated from Felician College as the valedictorian with degrees in Education and English. She has 15 years of middle school English classroom teaching experience as well as 7 years of tutoring all grade levels and a variety of subjects. Erin also has experience as a homeschool teacher, as she has homeschooled her high school-aged children using the Time4Learning curriculum. Erin is also a published writer with stories in three editions of Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Evan, an expert tutor, currently attends Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck NJ, where he is majoring in Biology. He has great experience working with children, including mentoring physically and mentally challenged kids through the TOPsoccer program, tutoring grades 2-8 at his former middle school, where he also supervised after-care and homework support programs. He first gained experience tutoring his two younger siblings in subjects such as elementary level math and science; however, has since expanded his repertoire by completing a series of academically rigorous Advance Placement and Honors courses in: Biology, Chemistry, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Precalculus, and as such is well able to provide tutelage in said subjects. Attesting to his well-developed knowledge in these subjects is his reception of the Salutatorian Honor in high school by graduating 2nd in his high school class. He gives great credence to the tutors he received while in high school, acknowledging that they played a strong role in his academic development. He is a humorous, enthusiastic, and, above all, patient tutor who will always put forth his best effort in making sure his students understand any puzzling or difficult subject matter.

Genevieve, a master tutor, has encouraged the literacy of students as young as age three by maintaining a nurturing environment for their continued enrichment. She's spent the last 7 years helping students in grades k-12 with assignments ranging in English, literature, math, Spanish, French, social studies, & sciences. She has educated and guided her students in order to establish a resolute foundation to master mathematics, reading and comprehension, and language arts. She has also mentored learners through personal obstacles to prosper in learning independently, thinking critically and logically through analysis. She is passionate about making a difference in the community, the importance of education, motivating others, instilling perseverance and enjoyment in learning.

Born abroad and taught in private Montessori schools, George is a native British English speaker and can tutor in both UKSE (United Kingdom Standard English) and GenAmSE (General American Standard English). He has taught grades 7-12, from foundational Language Arts to Honors and Pre-AP courses. He currently teaches Honors World Literature, Honors American Literature, and Journalism.

He has worked with the NJ Department of Education on its most recent state curriculum revision committee in 2018 and has presented workshops on student-centered learning with the New Jersey Council of Teachers of English. He was awarded the 2018 Teacher for the Dream Award by NJCTE for his advocacy in increasing the representation of people of color in humanities and education programmes.

George is experienced in tutoring students to succeed in high stakes tests, such as the NJASK, HSPA, PARCC, SAT, and Advanced Placement exams, specializing in writing composition and analysis of informational texts. His favorite genre to read and teach is the essay. He loves helping students find their voices and strengthen their command of the written word. His goal is to see all his students demonstrate academic growth and success, whether it's improving their basic literacy or refining their analytical and rhetorical skills.

Gerald, a master tutor, is a retired high school teacher. Gerald spent over forty years teaching various subjects in two high schools; everything from Math and Science to History and even Latin and Spanish I. During this time, he also tutored helping numerous students gain a better understanding of the material, pass their courses, and regain their sense of pride and confidence. Since retiring from full-time high school teaching, Gerald has taught GED/HSE classes in all four subject areas. Gerald is currently an adjunct professor at Saint Peter's University as well as Hudson County Community College, where he instructs in both the Sociology and the Education Departments.

Gladys is a talented expert tutor. She received her Master's in Education from the College of New Jersey along with three teaching certificates including: Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Teacher of Students with Disabilities and K-6 Elementary teaching certification. Currently, Gladys is a 4th and 5th grade math teacher/learning specialist. At a young age, Gladys learned the importance of developing deeper and more meaningful relationships with her teachers and peers. She was a founding member of organizations both in primary school and in college dedicated to cultivating relationships, celebrating culture, and giving back to communities in need. Gladys believes that when we discover the strengths and skills that we have, then we can learn more about the world around us and how to navigate obstacles that come our way. On her free time, Gladys enjoys playing tennis and sitting at her craft station working on DIY projects. From experiences working and volunteering in different environments and with children of varying learning needs, Gladys has only grown in her passion to give back to the education system and inspire youth.

Glenn, a master tutor, returned to college in his early 50's. He earned a B.A. in literature from Ramapo College in 2011, and has gained certification as a NJ English teacher. He completed his student teaching in 2015, working at St. John's Academy (a k-8 Catholic school in Hillsdale, NJ) where he taught 5th graders reading, language arts and social studies. He has worked as a professional writing tutor, both privately and at Bergen Community College since 2008. He has extensive experience helping students (both English speakers and ELLs) develop effective study skills and improve the quality of their written assignments. Glenn is a mature, reliable, outgoing individual who works hard to get students focused and on-task. He is patient, and believes in bringing a sense of humor and a value-based philosophy to his work with students.

Greg, a master tutor, is a very passionate teacher. He treats all his students with love, respect, and care. He has been teaching for over five years and tutoring for over three years. He firmly believes that all children have the ability to learn. Nothing brings him more joy than when his students succeed. Greg is eager to meet and help your child achieve his or her academic goals. I love working with students and helping them reach their goals. In his spare time, Greg enjoys playing basketball, video games, going to the gym, watching movies, and going to sporting events.

Haian, an expert tutor, is a college student pursuing an Industrial Design degree and a minor in Applied Mathematics . He has years of experience working with kids as a counselor and tutoring in math from kindergarten to college level. With a relaxed and patient attitude that helps kids warm up immediately, he is proficient at taking the easy steps necessary to work up to more difficult problems. He also continues to challenge them to build confidence in their abilities! He believes that students will enjoy their work when they truly understand and feel comfortable with it.

Hasan, an expert tutor, earned his BA in Biology from Rutgers University and is pursuing a career as a dental professional. He is a tutor at his university's learning center and has experience as a chemistry lab teaching assistant. His favorite aspect of tutoring is being able to relieve a student of their worries and assure them that they are completely capable of comprehending the material if they simply dedicate enough time to practice. Building a solid understanding of the basics is the key to success. Hasan can tutor general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, algebra and test prep for the DAT. Hasan especially enjoys tutoring chemistry which he views as being the central science in understanding the fundamentals of how the universe works at the smallest level. When he tutors a student, Hasan first likes to hear from them what they understand and then build from there. Heather, a master tutor, received her B.A. in psychology. She continued her education and obtained her elementary teaching certification in 1997. Heather is kind and patient. She has experience working with students K-6th grade. Heather has over 10 years of teaching experience working with Kindergarten-6th-grade, and she has served several Bergen County school districts. Heather has worked as an in-school support professional for every grade from Pre-K through high school, all subjects. Heather currently lives in Bergen County and loves to read and spend her spare time with her family.

Howard, a master tutor, received his B.S. from Northwestern University in communications and a M.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently teaching honors geometry. In addition, he teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th graders basic math and algebra. Whether it's mastering the multiplication tables, finding the rate of exponential growth or decay, or determining what kind of a triangle is a right triangle, Howard can help in making the proper connection. Howard believes math is a whole wonderful language of its own just waiting to be explored and indulged. He matches his style to the needs of the particular student and finds what that is by spending time with his students, talking and listening to what they have to say. He can tell how to approach any difficulty and make it into an easier and more rewarding exercise. When Howard is not burying his head in angles and averages he can be found backseat managing the Yankees, enjoying a good book, watching a good movie or play, or enjoying a romp with Maxie, his labra-doodle.

Jenna, a master tutor, earned her B.A. from Caldwell University in elementary education with an endorsement in middle school English. She has been teaching for 7 years and is currently teaching 4th and 5th grade language arts and social studies at a private school in Morris County. Her ultimate joy is her work. She loves everyday she gets with her students and enjoys helping them find their own love for learning! Jenna has been tutoring throughout the school year and over the summer for the past 3 years. Jenna is an energetic, loving and passionate woman who loves what she does!

Jennifer L. received her Bachelor of Arts from Baruch College in New York City in Psychology, with a special interest in Mind, Brain and Behavior, and Early Childhood Education. She completed her field work at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Childlife Psychology, where she honed-in her training in play therapy. After completing an extensive course of training, she began working as a Vision Therapist in Bergen County, NJ in 2011. As a vision therapist, she has devoted her time to helping individuals of all ages and varying developmental delays adapt to their visual world. She uses a differentiated instructional approach to tailor her teaching to match the students’ learning styles. She believes that all students can reach their learning goals, and she excels at adapting to fit the needs of each individual child. Jennifer has been married over 20 years and is a mother to a son who is a Sophomore at City College of New York, and a daughter who is a rising High School Senior. At 18 months, her son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Learning to navigate and promote the social, emotional, and academic success of each of her two children has driven her to ensure that all children reach the academic goals. She is currently training in Orton-Gillingham Approach, and would like to provide academic support to children age 2 and up achieve academic success.

Jessica, an expert tutor, received her BA in Early Childhood Education Degree from Kean University. She is certified as Teacher of Preschool, grades Prek-3, and as an Elementary School Teacher, grades K-6. Jessica has been teaching for 4 years and is currently teaching 4th-grade math and science. She is currently in graduate school for her Special Education Certificate. Jessica enjoys traveling and making memories with her son.

Karyn, a master tutor, holds a B.A. in psychology from William Paterson University where she also received her elementary education certificate. Karyn has also completed credits towards a M.A. in special education from University of Phoenix. She is an enthusiastic teacher/tutor with several years experience working with elementary level students. She has spent the past 8 years working as a teacher's aide in self contained special education classrooms. She has worked with a variety of ages from preschool all the way up to high school. Her most recent position was in a 4th/5th grade classroom. Karyn has also taught pre-k and kindergarten in day care settings. It is her belief that she can make learning fun and interesting to help a student achieve full potential.

Katherine, a master tutor, is currently a first grade teacher, teaching all subject areas in Passaic, NJ. She has been an enthusiastic and caring teacher since graduating Montclair State University in 2013. She graduated as a family and child studies major with a concentration in k-6. Once she graduated, she took on a role as a paraprofessional aide in a preschool disabled classroom in Little Falls, NJ. She gained knowledge and experience using ABA in order to help young children with autism learn to their full potential. She then taught 4th grade English language arts in Passaic, NJ. She implemented various reading comprehension/writing skills and prepared students for PARCC testing. Her goal as a teacher is to provide all her students with academic growth based on each child's needs and to relate her lessons to the real world. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends.

Kathryn, an Expert Tutor, has a B.A. from William Paterson University and a M.A. from Caldwell University. She has experience working with children from kindergarten up through young adults. Most of her experience has been working with children and young adults with learning differences. Currently, Kathryn is pursuing a Master's degree in school counseling. Her experience includes working with lower elementary school students (K - 2nd grade) as an instructional aide. For two years, Katheryn worked with middle school age students as an Applied Behavioral Specialist in Morris School District. She enjoys working with kids, making learning fun and interesting. Kathryn loves playing sports and video games in her spare time.

Kendall, a master tutor, is a recent graduate from The College of New Jersey. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in elementary education and a B.A. in psychology. Additionally, she has her New Jersey teaching certification in grades K-5. Kendall has many experiences working one-on-one with children and maintains a strong passion for helping others. Kendall is extremely caring, understanding, and hard working. Ultimately, Kendall loves making sure that her students are grasping material and demonstrating an understanding. In her spare time, Kendall enjoys spending time on the beach, traveling, reading, cooking, and exercising.

Kenya, a master tutor, graduated from Ramapo College of NJ and received her teaching certificate from Montclair State University. She has been an educator since 2011 where she has worked with pre-school age to 5th grade students. Kenya is currently a 3rd grade teacher in Newark New Jersey where she works with a diverse group of students. This includes their learning abilities, learning styles, as well as their background. When it comes to working with young scholars, Kenya implements best practices when in the classroom and while tutoring. She identifies the learning style and need of a student so that she can differentiates instruction for each student. Kenya also uses reader’s/writer’s workshop, guided reading/CLI, number talk and interactive materials (just to name a few) to engage her students in learning. As an educator, Kenya strives to be the best for her students and bring out the best in them!

Kirk, a master tutor, is a recently-retired college professor of environmental engineering and water resources engineering (subdisciplines of civil engineering). Kirk has received degrees in chemical engineering, computer science, and environmental engineering. He has taught courses for several years in hydraulics, hydrology, and water quality that involve chemistry, physics, and mathematics including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus. He has also taught the use of Microsoft Excel and computer programming in VBA in Excel. Kirk can show students how mathematics is used in the real world to solve important problems regarding engineering and the environment. He can also help students develop a strategy to best prepare for an exam.

Krina, a master tutor, is currently a second grade special education teacher in an ICT setting. She has taught every grade in K-5th grade. She specializes in differentiating the curriculum to suit the needs of individual students. She has ABA training and is well versed in the ABLLS program. She designs programs for her students that are tracked by data and then used to focus on the needs each individual student exhibits. Krina has her teaching certification in elementary education and special education in New Jersey as well as New York. She loves playing and watching soccer and being with family and friends. Krina enjoys playing monopoly and scrabble too!
