Howard, a master tutor, received his B.S. from Northwestern University in communications and a M.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently teaching honors geometry. In addition, he teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th graders basic math and algebra. Whether it's mastering the multiplication tables, finding the rate of exponential growth or decay, or determining what kind of a triangle is a right triangle, Howard can help in making the proper connection. Howard believes math is a whole wonderful language of its own just waiting to be explored and indulged. He matches his style to the needs of the particular student and finds what that is by spending time with his students, talking and listening to what they have to say. He can tell how to approach any difficulty and make it into an easier and more rewarding exercise. When Howard is not burying his head in angles and averages he can be found backseat managing the Yankees, enjoying a good book, watching a good movie or play, or enjoying a romp with Maxie, his labra-doodle. Josh, a master tutor, received his B.A. from the University of Maryland and a M.A. from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He then began teaching middle school math in NYC. After seven years in an urban setting, he began teaching at a suburban private school in 2012. He loves to present math topics in different ways to meet different students' needs; nothing pleases him more than after several attempts, a new approach is met with, "Oh! Why didn't you teach it like that in the first place?" Sarin, an expert tutor, is a undergraduate at Rutgers Honors and Aureus Medical School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University in 2009. He then proceeded to graduate medical school within the top 15% of his medical college graduating class in 2013. Sarin is passionate about teaching and would like to inspire, motivate, and teach students to become successful in their academic careers. Sarin tutors various subjects including advanced placement Biology, advanced placement chemistry, advanced placement physics, pre-algebra, algebra I/II, geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, SAT math (Scored 800), ACT, GRE, GMAT, and TOEFL. He possesses the integrity and sincerity in serving his community and he affirms that given this opportunity he will fulfill this objective by practicing medicine and giving back to the community by teaching. Brian, a master tutor, received his BA from Montclair State University and an MA in teaching from Monmouth University. He is certified to teach grades k-5 with an additional certification in middle school math. Brian is currently teaching 7th-grade math in Dover, after teaching 8th-grade math for 7 years. In addition to teaching, Brian coaches girls volleyball and spring track, and also runs the builders club, a community service organization. In his free time, Brian spends time with his wife and dog and plays kickball in a co-ed adult kickball league. Bob, a master tutor, graduated from the University of Scranton in 2008 with a B.S. in counseling and human service degree. After graduation he began working at a residential treatment center for high school boys for two years. He was then accepted into the Nashville Teaching Fellows, an alternative teaching program through Belmont University. Though the program he taught resource and inclusion in a middle school setting. In 2012 he received a M.A. in special education. This last summer Bob returned to New Jersey and became the behavioral disability teacher in school #2, an elementary school in Linden. Stephen, a master tutor, is a scientist/teacher with over 4 years of experience tutoring middle, high school and college students. He has a B.A. in life sciences from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in immunology and microbial pathogenesis from Thomas Jefferson University. He teaches biology, physics and Earth science at the high school level, and has tutored in the sciences and math extensively. Stephen’s tutoring style is to make a connection with the student, creating a favorable environment for the student-tutor interaction. This allows for an easy exchange of concepts and a less stressful experience, while the actual tutoring materials will depend upon the student’s needs and learning style. He is very capable at explaining scientific theories and concepts in a manner making it easy to understand and remember. During his down time, Stephen enjoys reading, both playing and following sports, and enjoying pop culture. Vicente, an expert tutor, was born in Lima, Peru, where he obtained an B.S.E.E. from the National Engineering University Lima-Peru. He later earned an M.S.E.E. and M.B.A from NJIT in Newark, NJ. Matt, an expert tutor, is an educator with a background in journalism, philosophy, business, and Chinese language arts (Mandarin and Cantonese dialects). Since 2005, Matt has participated in various Vassar College academic programs, traveling to major cities in China, as well as Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, Paris and Berlin for academic research and tutoring local students in those cities. As a result, he has completed research projects focusing on cross-cultural comparisons and learning styles in different countries. He has also worked as a business news journalist and researcher. Matt has experience working with elementary, middle and high school students both in the states and abroad. He believes in using interactive technologies and real-world examples to make tutoring fun and relevant for students. His familiarity and experiences with traditional and innovative teaching methods help students of different levels and backgrounds learn at their potential. Miguel, an expert tutor, is a graduate of Hudson County Community College (HCCC) with an A.S. in Physics, and is in progress of receiving his B.S. in Physics from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Miguel has tutored college level mathematics and physics at HCCC as well as volunteered as a tutor for struggling high school-age students. He has a true love for mathematics and physics along with all the enthusiasm that comes with it. He strives to help students learn concepts while building their mathematics ability so that they can apply their understanding to a wide array of problem types and problem sets. In his leisure time, Miguel enjoys studying, playing guitar and piano, illustration, and photography Paul, a master tutor, graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a B.S. in mathematics and certificate in secondary education. He is a passionate high school math teacher and is currently a third year teacher at Dover High School. He teaches geometry, algebra II and calculus. Certified to teach all math grades 6-12, Paul also has experience working with gifted and talented students. He has been tutoring students in multiple areas of math such as algebra 1, algebra 2, pre-calculus, calculus, geometry and statistics. He is extensively familiar with SAT math prep, PARCC testing and the Common Core math standards. Paul has numerous hours of professional development; specifically from the graduate school at Drew University. In his spare time, Paul loves to play sports to stay active, watch movies and, most importantly, spend quality time with his friends and family. Greg, a master tutor, is a very passionate teacher. He treats all his students with love, respect, and care. He has been teaching for over five years and tutoring for over three years. He firmly believes that all children have the ability to learn. Laurence, a master tutor, having graduated Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics, and Rutgers University with a B.A. in Chemistry. He started tutoring when he was fourteen years old. A neighbor asked him to help her daughter with pre-algebra and he obliged. He must have been good, because soon after, he was being asked by other parents to help their children with math and science. When he began tutoring, he discovered that he enjoyed helping other people learn. Laurence has found that there is nothing more rewarding that seeing the light of comprehension click on in a student's eyes when they've suddenly understood something. By the time he graduated high school, Laurence had tutored more than a dozen people. Over the past twleve years, Laurence have enjoyed tutoring immensely. Laurence has also helped prepare students for the math portion of the SAT. Danny, an expert tutor, graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey, earning his B.S. in business administration. He is an educator who aims to help students reach their academic potential and aims to one day become a middle school math teacher. Danny's belief is that learning is fun and that anything can be achieved through hard work. His hobbies include exercise, basketball, baseball, and watching movies. Mike, a master tutor, has graduated from McNair High in Jersey City and was recruited for basketball at Centenary College in Hackettstown New Jersey. While at Centenary, he was invited to attend a M.I.P (Mathematics Is Power) program at Stevens Tech in Hoboken. He placed first on the entrance exam and first on the post test for completing Calculus II. Mike has been teaching for twelve years on the high school level. His motto is that mathematics is life, and life is logic. Students have the ability to understand mathematics at any level. math is not magic and tricks, it is just logic. Ken, a master tutor, has become a seasoned high school educator over the past 15 years. His students really like his unique and encouraging teaching style. Through his many years of enjoyable teaching experience, Ken can easily make a difficult lesson not so difficult. Luis, a master tutor, has a B.A. in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry from Skidmore College. In addition, he is in his third year where he is pursing his Ph.D in organic chemistry part time at Seton Hall University. Luis has 9 years of teaching experience including 5th and 6th grade science and math, middle school science, high school level chemistry and biology as well as college level general chemistry and organic chemistry. Luis feels that teaching is about conveying a love of learning and discovery as well. His career interests lie primarily in science education; focusing on secondary education in chemistry. His long term goal is to become a professor of Organic Chemistry with a focus on research in natural product synthesis that focuses on endocrinology, immunology and cardiology. The science teacher that he would like to be is the one who inspired those who want to pursue a career in science. Luis is a highly effective teacher who is passionate about helping his students understand the material they are learning and develop their critical thinking skills. Albert, a master tutor, was awarded a M.Ed. from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is currently working on his Ed.D. at Seton Hall University. In addition to pursuing his Doctorate, Al currently works as a Mathematics/ELA and Leadership Coach in several school districts. He has been an educator and senior educational administrator in New Jersey for more than 18 years. He has worked as a teacher, a central office administrator, an assistant principal, and a high school principal. Al gained valuable experience working in various counties across the state of New Jersey. He has a keen understanding of the needs, inadequacies and challenges of providing special services to students with special needs. Nickie, a master tutor, received his M.A. in elementary education from Howard University and his B.S. from Mississippi State University. While obtaining his M.A., Nickie served Fairfax County public schools as an instructional aide and student teacher; while also completing his research on traditional style teaching versus teaching with manipulates in the elementary classroom and its benefits. Nickie is currently working with the Bright Kids Agency in NYC as a part time Teacher and a Contract Tutor. Nickie's passion is to have students reach success in the classroom by their own personal way of learning which has inspired his love of tutoring. Brian, a master tutor, is an experienced middle school teacher. He holds NJ State Certifications in Special Education, Social Studies, and K-6 Elementary School Education. When not teaching, Josh can be found reading, cheering on his Baltimore sports teams, engrossed in trivia, or more likely, playing with his two-year-old daughter.
He worked for Nextel, Sprint and AT&T for 16 years as senior RAN engineer and capacity plan manager. He has tutored high school students for the past 6 years in math and physics with great results.
