Eight weeks of preparation for the March 2027 SAT

Winter SAT Boot Camp in Livingston, NJ

This is the long course. Eight weeks, fifteen classes, and a full-length diagnostic before any of it, built for juniors who want the March 6, 2027 SAT to count as a serious attempt rather than a rehearsal. A three-week sprint teaches a student how the test works. Two months gives us time to go back to the algebra, the grammar rules, and the reading habits sitting underneath it.

What the 8 weeks covers

The class opens on January 5 with a full digital SAT on a real test interface, each module timed as it will be on test day, before any instruction. What comes back is specific: which of the four Reading and Writing domains is leaking questions, where the math loss actually sits, and how the second module went after an uneven first one. The week-by-week plan below is set in advance. What the report changes is the emphasis inside it: which domain a teacher pushes your student on, what fills their individualized time during the week 6 and week 8 reviews, and what to practice between sessions.

What the extra weeks are actually for

These six domains account for most of the questions on the digital SAT, and a two-month course is long enough to go back to the content underneath each one instead of teaching a workaround.

Reading & Writing About 26% of the Reading and Writing section

Information and Ideas

Where the points go

The items that end with "which choice most logically completes the text," and the ones that hand you a bar graph or a short study description and ask which finding supports a claim. Students answer from what they already believe about the topic instead of from what the four lines in front of them establish, and they skim past the axis labels and units on the quantitative evidence questions.

What we do in class

We split the domain in two. For inference items, students finish the sentence in their own words before looking at a single choice. For evidence items, they restate the claim in plain language, then test each option against it, reading the units and axis labels out loud on the graph questions until that becomes automatic.

Math About 35% of the math section

Algebra

Where the points go

Linear equations, systems of two linear equations, and inequalities dressed up as word problems. The loss is almost never in the solving. A student who can solve a system on paper without hesitating still stalls when the question describes two phone plans and asks when the costs match, or asks what value of a coefficient produces no solution.

What we do in class

Algebra underlies every harder question on the math section, so it gets rebuilt from the ground up instead of patched with a strategy. Students learn to build the equation from the sentence that describes it, to read slope and intercept as the real quantities in the situation a problem sets up, and to handle the two cases the test asks about outright: when a system has no solution, and when it has infinitely many. The targeted practice in week 5 and the weak area review in week 6 keep returning to it.

Reading & Writing About 28% of the Reading and Writing section

Craft and Structure

Where the points go

Cross-text connection items, where two short passages take different positions and the question asks how the second author would respond to the first. Students summarize each text correctly and still miss, because they never pinned down the exact point of disagreement. Function questions ("the underlined sentence mainly serves to") go the same way.

What we do in class

Students write a one-line position for each text before touching the answers, then say the disagreement out loud in their own words. For function questions, we practice describing the job a sentence does in its paragraph rather than what it says. Eight weeks lets us run this on science, history, and literature passages instead of one sample set.

Math About 35% of the math section

Advanced Math

Where the points go

Nonlinear systems, rational and radical equations, and questions asking what changing a parameter does to a graph. The harder second module concentrates here, and many juniors are meeting this material in Algebra 2 during the same months they are testing.

What we do in class

Weeks 3 and 4, January 19 through 28, are spent reteaching this material, not reviewing it. We work rational and radical equations and the extraneous solutions they generate, nonlinear systems solved by substitution, and what changing a coefficient does to the shape and position of a graph. Students taking Algebra 2 alongside the course usually find the two reinforce each other.

Reading & Writing About 26% of the Reading and Writing section

Standard English Conventions

Where the points go

Agreement and verb form. A subject separated from its verb by a long modifying phrase, a pronoun with no clear antecedent, or a tense that contradicts the timeline the paragraph set up. The sentence sounds fine on a quick read, so students accept it and move on.

What we do in class

We teach two physical habits: cross out the interrupting phrase and read the subject next to its verb, and name the antecedent out loud before accepting any pronoun. Tense questions get a quick timeline sketch in the margin. Habits need repetition, which is exactly what the extra weeks buy.

Math About 15% of the math section

Problem-Solving and Data Analysis

Where the points go

Two-way tables, probability pulled from a table of counts, and the questions about sample size, margin of error, and what a study can fairly conclude. Students who handle the arithmetic without trouble lose points on study-design items, a pattern we see often, because that vocabulary rarely comes up in a high school math class.

What we do in class

We cover the small statistics vocabulary the SAT keeps reusing: random selection versus random assignment, what a margin of error actually describes, and which conclusions a sample supports. Then we drill reading conditional probability straight off a two-way table without recopying it.

Answer: 41. Solve first: 3x = 18, so x = 6. The question asks for 6x + 5, not x. Substituting gives 36 + 5 = 41. The most common miss here is solving correctly and then answering 6, the value of x.

2. For the function f(x) = 2x² − 8x + 3, what is the x-coordinate of the vertex?

Answer: 2. The vertex of a parabola sits at x = −b/(2a). Here a = 2 and b = −8, so x = 8/4 = 2. Watch the sign: b is negative, so −b is positive.

3. A jacket is marked down 20% and now sells for $36. What was the original price?

  1. $43.20

Answer: $45. $36 is 80% of the original, so 0.8p = 36 and p = $45. The trap is $43.20, which is what you get by adding 20% to $36 instead of working backward from the discounted price.

4. Choose the word that best completes the sentence: "The results were considered ______; no other study had reported anything similar."

  1. conventional
  2. derivative
  3. tentative
  4. anomalous

Answer: anomalous. The semicolon signals that what follows explains the blank. "No other study had reported anything similar" means the result stood apart from everything else, which is what anomalous means. Conventional and derivative both mean roughly the opposite.

5. Which punctuation belongs in the blank? "The Bluebook app, which students use on test day ______ includes a built-in graphing calculator."

  1. a semicolon
  2. a comma
  3. a colon
  4. no punctuation

Answer: a comma. "which students use on test day" is a non-essential clause. It opens with a comma, so it has to close with one too. Punctuation like this travels in pairs, and a missing second comma is one of the most common Conventions errors on the digital SAT.

Three weeks is enough to teach a student how the SAT works. Eight weeks is enough to go back and reteach the algebra and grammar underneath it. February 16 and 18 are off, so the course fits the New Jersey school calendar instead of fighting it.

When does the Winter SAT Boot Camp meet?

The diagnostic pre-test is Tuesday, January 5, 2027, from 6:00 to 8:15 PM. Classes then meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on January 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28; February 2, 4, 9, and 11; February 23 and 25; and March 2 and 4. February 16 and 18 are off for February break.

Which SAT does this class prepare for?

The Saturday, March 6, 2027 digital SAT. The final class is Thursday, March 4, two days before the exam. Students who want a second attempt still have the later spring dates open after this one.

How much is tuition, and what does it cover?

Tuition is $2,080. That covers the January 5 diagnostic, the report that comes out of it, and all fifteen two-hour classes. There is no separate materials fee. College Board exam registration is paid directly to the College Board.

Where are the classes held?

At the Teacher Tutors center, 160 S Livingston Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039. All sixteen meetings, the diagnostic plus the fifteen classes, are in person. This boot camp is not offered online.

Is the diagnostic really included?

Yes. The full-length diagnostic on January 5 is part of tuition, not an add-on, and every enrolled student takes it. It runs a little longer than a regular class, 6:00 to 8:15 PM, because the two Reading and Writing modules and the two math modules are timed as they are on test day. The report it produces is what teachers use to decide where to push each student inside the published eight-week plan.

How large is the class?

Enrollment is capped so a teacher can sit down with individual students during practice, which matters more across eight weeks than it does across a short sprint. Call the center for the current count in this session.

What happens if my student misses a class?

Across eight winter weeks, a missed night or two is normal: a game, a school trip, the flu. Let us know in advance when you can and we will arrange the catch-up, usually the materials from that session plus a short one-on-one before the next class.

Can we do one-on-one SAT tutoring instead, or alongside the class?

Both are available. Some families use the boot camp for structure and pace, then add private hours on one stubborn area such as Advanced Math. Others prefer to work entirely one-on-one on their own schedule. Call us and we will talk through which fits your student.
